In 2005 Neon started his professional carreer as he started working at Musicman, a record store in Ghent and became resident at The Temple on saturdays playing house, groove and progressive.
Even TV wasn’t safe anymore: every week he presented the “Release of the Week” on jim tv’s “Going Out” show.
In December 2006 Philip started his own record label Faith Music with releases from Pole Folder, Oliver Moldan, Art-B, Miquell Santos, Mastino, Dava Di Toma, etc.
In 1995, at the age of 10, he started buying vinyl. In those days Phi Phi, Yves Deruyter & Marko were his big influences…Philip Michael Andersson aka Dj Philip started his deejay career in 1989 as an all-round deejay, playing all kinds of music from new wave to reggae at local parties and holding two residencies at 2 local clubs. E, Regi, Peter Luts, Starfighter, Eduardo Delvino, etc. Then it grew bigger and bigger from clubs like Risco, Nut’s, Tomorrow, Karrewiel, etc. And making remixes for fellow producers Eric M (Depeche Mode’s Personal Jesus), Pole Folder, Oliver Moldan, Tiësto, Vincent the Moor, Quicksilver, etc.His radio appearance influenced his dj-career: he got the opportunity to start playing at his favourite club: the former Boccaccio that was called The Temple at the time. One year later, he left C-dance for the biggest dance radio in flanders: Top Radio.
Starting with a weekly dj-set, Neon soon got his own daily spot on national radio hosting his own radio show called “The Nightclub”. This show is still on air everyday from 8am giving you an “update” on the hottest new music.
After organising his own parties, Mike Thompson offered him a dj set at the legendary Cherry Moon in Lokeren. Meantime, Neon was also doing his thing on the radio.
He had his own show broadcasting every night on C-dance Ghent.
When house music was born, Philip knew this was the music he loved! Tam Tam, Forest, Baccardi’s, Outline, Illusion, Revolution (Nijmegen NL), Renania (DE), Carat, Shaft & La Rocca where he still plays the decks every week! And bands like Milk Inc, Kate Ryan, Jessy and Astroline to name but a few.
His career as a producer started at the age of 18 and his first release “Too Deep” sold over 20.000 copies in the Be Ne Lux area. Philip was also one of the leading men behind the Gemini II project, and was the man who got Zippora here first international hit. From South Africa to Colombia, Spain, Italy, Germany, etc.
By mixing fresh tunes in his own radio show on Radio FG, spinning his favorite tracks at clubs and festivals worldwide (Tomorrowland, Privilege Ibiza, Laundry Day, Summerfestival, Versuz, La Rocca, WMC Miami, Pacha World Tour, and many more), Dj Licious does what he loves most: let the music do the talking.
